Jodhpur: A day after the birthday bash of British supermodel Naomi Campbell's billionaire boyfriend here, police today fined over a dozen cars with tinted glasses used for ferrying guests to the airport besides some people for smoking at the civil airport.
Following objections from locals, DCP (Traffic) Rahul Prakash directed that the sedans, brought from other cities, be fined.
"We sent the traffic police to the airport following complaints and fined over a dozen vehicles with tinted glasses," an officer said. Also fines were imposed on some people for smoking at the civil airport, he said.
There is a ban on using tinted glass and also smoking in public places in the city. The two-day birthday bash of Vladimir Doronin will be remembered for many reasons. Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger enlivened the guests yesterday at the imposing Umaid Bhawan Palace.
An elephant polo match had to be cancelled following opposition from animal rights activists.
