Hundreds of people have left their villages and moved to safer places while thousands are still waiting for relief. Many of them have taken shelter in a madrasa in Jaula village. The refugees have come from the surrounding villages of Fugana, Hasanpur, Mastan Kheda, Lakh and Kamalpur.

But these riot-hit villagers allege that they are yet to get any relief from the government.

Even though the situation has improved in the urban areas of Muzaffarnagar district, but there is still tension in rural areas.

Several people died in Kutba village while others fled and took shelter in safer places. They say that groups of unidentified men came and attacked them on the night of September 7 night and disappeared under the cover of darkness.
