A Muslim man reportedly divorced his wife for casting her vote in favour of the BJP instead of Congress in the ongoing Assam Assembly elections.
According to local media reports in Assam, the man has been identified as Ainuddin and he reportedly divorced his wife Dilwara Begum in Donam Addahati village in Sonitpur district for favouring BJP.
Her husband turned furious after Dilwara told him that she voted for BJP, which was against the collective decision of the villagers to vote for the Congress party.
Local media sources added that Ainuddin decided to end their 10-year-old relationship soon after his wife revealed that she had voted for the BJP.
However, some villagers claimed that they ended their relationship over some personal issues and not for casting vote in favour of BJP.
