Shibanand Jain, 23, who had allegedly murdered a woman at the residence of an industrialist in Koramangala 7th Block on Tuesday evening, committed suicide by hanging in a room of the house.
Jain, a native of Orissa, was accused of stabbing Jamuna Devi, 45. He had been absconding after the incident. Jain was a maid in the house, where Devi was a cook. Police said when they went to the house for investigation on Wednesday, they found him at a store room on the first floor of the house.
It is suspected that Jain, might have returned in the wee hours. “He might have jumped inside the compound and entered the house. No one has noticed him entering the house. He might have taken the extreme step fearing arrest,” the police said. Jain had murdered Devi after she repeatedly scolded him for not cleaning the utensils properly.
Contractor Ends Life
A 38-year-old contractor, who was threatened of dire consequences by some men, committed suicide by hanging at his residence in Papareddypalya on Tuesday.
The deceased, Rajendra Prasad, was a civil contractor. He was also the eyewitness and complainant of the case in which, contractor Nagaraj was hacked to death in Nagarabhavi on June 22. They were close friends.
The police said that Prasad hanged himself when his family members had gone out in the afternoon. The incident came to light when they returned. In a death note, he said Venkatesh and Madhu were threatening of killing him. However, he has not mentioned why they were threatening him. “We are trying to trace who is Venkatesh and Madhu,” the police said and ruled out that the accused in the murder case of Nagaraj were threatening him. The Jnanabharathi police registered a case.
House Burgled
Unidentified persons, who broke into a house in Vasanthanagar, made away with diamond, gold, silver articles and cash- all worth about `9 lakh. The house belonged to Srinivasan. Police said Srinivasan, along with his family members, had gone to Jaipur on July 14. When they returned on Wednesday, they found the house burgled. The thieves had broke open the window grills to gain entry and escaped with the valuables.
