NAGAPATTINAM: The timely help by Fisheries Minister KA Jayapaul saved the life of a 24-year- old youth, who was seriously injured in an accident near Sirkazhi on Sunday. Ganeshkumar (24), a native of Nangur village near Sirkazhi, went to Karuvizhanthanathapuram on a bicycle on Saturday night and was returning home on Sunday early morning. When he was nearing Allivilagam village, he was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle and was lying in a pool of blood. While he was battling for life, Fisheries Minister KA Jayapaul, who was passing through that area en route to Nagapattinam from Chennai, noticed the victim and immediately stopped his vehicle. He called for the services of an ambulance, which arrived at the spot in quyick time. The minister accompanied the victim to Sirkazhi GH and made arrangements for his treatment. He left for Nagapattinam only after spending a few hours at the hospital. Sirkazhi MLA Sakthi also visited the GH. After initial treatment, Ganeshkumar has been referred to Annamalai University Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
