CHENNAI: Most of the existing, self-financing medical colleges across the State have been allowed to charge Rs 2.5 lakh as annual fees from students, according to the committee on fixation of fees with respect to self-financing professional colleges. Newly established institutions have been allowed to charge Rs 2.25 lakh by the committee headed by Justice N V Balasubramanian.PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Sree Moogambika Institute of Medical Sciences and Tagore Medical College and Hospital have all been recommended an annual fee of Rs 2.5 lakh for the academic year 2011-12. Chennai Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, which is now two years old, has also been allowed Rs 2.5 lakh as annual fee, subject to MCI renewal.Sri Muthukumaran Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, which started last year, has been allowed only Rs 2.25 lakh as annual fee.
