If you are travelling by train and have a confirmed ticket then you can get many benefits. Most people know that train tickets are only useful for travelling but that is not so. With this ticket, you can avail many services that you hardly know about. Nishant Kumar, Senior DCM of Ranchi Railway Division told Local 18 that train tickets have many benefits. With it, you can get access to everything from food to first aid to emergency and maternity.
You can get all these benefits:
1. If one has a confirmed train ticket and needs a hotel then one can avail the dormitories of IRCTC. Here you can get a bed very cheaply i.e. up to Rs 150. It is valid for 24 hours only.
2. In Indian Railways, pillows, bedsheets and blankets are available free of charge on trains 1, 2 and 3. All these facilities are also available free of charge in Garib Rath. If you don’t get these things in AC, you can get them by showing your train ticket. You don’t have to pay any extra fee for it.
3. If you feel sick or have any medical emergency during the train journey, there is a complete facility for quick assistance on the train itself. You just need to inform the RPF Bawner of the train. If you want, you can call 139. You will get immediate first aid services. If the train doesn’t have the facility you need, it will be provided at the nearest station.
4. If you have booked a ticket for a premium train like Rajdhani, Duronto or Shatabdi and that train is delayed by more than 2 hours, you will also get free food from the IRCTC canteen. If you don’t get food, you can also complain by calling 139.
5. All the railway stations have a changing room and cloakroom. In such a situation, you can keep your belongings in these changing rooms and cloakrooms for about 1 month. You will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to Rs 100 per 24 hours for this. But you must have a ticket for this too.
6. At the same time, immediately after getting off the train or before boarding the train, you can wait comfortably in a non-AC or AC waiting room. For this, you will have to show your ticket. There is no charge for staying in the city.
If you have a confirmed ticket and are facing any problem with any of these facilities or are unable to avail of any of these services, you can complain on 139. You will be helped immediately.
