New Delhi: In an unusual sight, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar presented the state budget while being seated. In addition, he also had a tube inserted through his nose as he has been ailing for quite some time. Despite this, the CM declared that he is "high on josh".
"Today, once again I promise that I will serve Goa with sincerity, integrity, and dedication until my last breath. There is a josh, that is too high and I'm fully in hosh," said Parrikar in state assembly.
During the inauguration of third bridge on the Mandovi river in Panaji on Sunday, Manohar Parrikar had begun his speech with the same catchy line from the recently released film "Uri: The Surgical Strike", asking the gathering "how's the josh?"
Parrikar was the defence minister at the time of the surgical strike conducted by the Army in September 2016.
Parrikar, 62, has been battling a pancreatic ailment since March 2018. He even spent three months in US for medical treatment.
Parrikar is not the only BJP leader to have been mouthing this line from the film. At the inauguration of the National Museum of Indian Cinema in Mumbai by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 20, PM Modi recited a dialogue from the same film.
"How's the josh?" he asked, quoting a line from the movie. His question drew laughter and applause from the audience.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharama teamed up with war veterans to watch the film. Post the event, she took to Twiter and said: "What a power-packed movie... Brilliant performances Yami Gautam, Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina. Recharged also by the energy in the cinema hall! #HighJosh."
