Jammu: The Army on Thursday described as "speculative and coloured" reports that Jammu and Kashmir Police were investigating into last week's clash between a group of army officers and jawans in an artillery regiment near Leh.
"Army is not aware of any such investigation/report prepared by J&K Police. In fact, SSP Leh in a statement said that the police have not registered any case," a defence spokesperson said.
"Since no police investigation has been conducted, it axiomatically implies that there has been no interaction between the personnel allegedly involved in the incident and the police. Thus, the veracity of the version in the media report tantamount to speculation and is coloured," he said.
According to the spokesperson, a "proper court of inquiry with strict time lines to investigate all aspects of this incident is already under progress... Once the court of inquiry is finalised necessary action will be taken on the findings".
On May 10, the group of Army officers and jawans clashed following an incident of alleged misbehaviour involving an orderly. The clash in Nyoma sub-district, located 150 km from Leh, took place when a jawan allegedly misbehaved with a Major who is said to have beaten him up.
However, the jawans denied that one of their men had indulged in any molestation.
The Army later termed the clash as an "isolated act of indiscipline" and not not a mutiny.
