KOZHIKODE: In a move that might further exacerbate the already tense situation in Onchiyam, LDF MLAs will visit the area on Tuesday for the first time after the gruesome killing of T P Chandrasekaharan.In a press meet here, the RMP leaders have warned the MLAs be aware of the people’s reaction before starting to TP’s land.The prohibitory orders clamped in Onchiyam, Eramala, Azhiyur and Chorode villages under the Kerala Police Act soon after the cremation of TP, is still in place. However, District Collector K V Mohan Kumar said that the LDF had given assurance that the number of people escorting the MLAs would not exceed four. Under Kerala Police Act, assembly of more than five people is banned whenever the prohibitory order is in place. The collector added that they assured that they would never instigate any type of violence in the area.Meanwhile, RMP Acting Secretary N Venu said that they will not allow CPM MLAs to visit Onchiyam area. “For the past four years they have tried to eliminate Chandrasekharan and now they are demanding the arrest of culprits behind the murder. Many CPM leaders paid their last respects to the departed leader, but many of them are now raising insincere voice for proper investigation. We will prevent these leaders from entering Onchiyam,” added Venu. LDF MLA’s from the district will visit the violence-hit areas of Eramala and Onchiyam Panchayats. This was decided at the LDF District committee meeting held here on Monday.The meeting chaired by T V Balan condemned the brutal assassination of the RMP leader and took stock of the situation that evolved after the murder.It said that large scale violence has taken place in the panchayats especially against the CPM cadre in these areas. LDF leaders also demanded the state government to provide protection to the life and property of the people and take stringent action against the culprits.
