THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC has launched the M-governance and first-phase of its total computerisation programme on Friday. Transport Minister V S Sivakumar launched the programme at a function held here.Under the M-governance scheme, the public will get the bus timings through SMS.Timings of Superfast, other upper-class services and important ordinary and fast passenger services will be made available through SMS. The timing of the inter-state services will also be made available. For getting the service, one has to type KSRTC - abbreviation of the place name - and SMS it to 537252. KSRTC MD Alexander K Luke also attended the meeting. As part of the computerisation programme, depots and workshops will be networked with the central office.The information on inventory, purchase, fleet management will be available online.Besides, information on body building, spare parts replacement, tax remittance, accident details will also be made available with the click of a mouse. 16 modules, including inventory management system, purchase management system, academic management system, intranet, telephone management, court case management, fleet management system, employee information system, medical reimbursement, disciplinary action, TA management and civil construction management will be implemented in the first-phase.Minister said that ‘Infowheels’, a computer training bus would reach all the KSRTC depots to provide computer training to its employees.He said that with the assistance of Keltron, computerisation would be completed in four months.
