BANGALORE: Minister for Ecology and Environment J Krishna Palemar has called upon the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) officials to be more responsible towards environment.
Speaking after inaugurating the new Central Laboratory of the board,Palemar said, "Environment has now become a core issue and this has increased the responsibility of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board officials. They have to be more responsible and act accordingly."Spread in an area of 25,000 sq ft and constructed at a total cost of `4.4 Crore, the laboratory has six divisions effluent test division for analysing, effluent discharge from industries, water test division for analysing lakes, bore wells, open wells, and river samples, bioscience division, bacteriological division for analysing bacteriological samples and hazardous waste division for analysing hazardous waste samples.

Speaking about the new equipment, A S Sadashivaiah, Chairman, KSPCB, said, "The laboratory is equipped with sophisticated equipment like gas chromatography, H P L C (High Performance Liquid Chromatography), A O X Analyser, T O C Analyser,

Minister for Urban Development, Municipal Administration, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, S Suresh Kumar, was also present on the occasion.
