Kashmir: Deputy sarpanch shot at by suspected militant
Five panchayati members have been killed by suspected militants in the last two years in Kashmir.

Srinagar: A deputy sarpanch was allegedly shot at and injured by militants in north Kashmir Kupwara district on Wednesday.

Noor Mohammad Khan is in a stable condition. Police said Khan stated that he was shot at by militants inside the compound of his local mosque in the wee hours on Wednesday when he had gone there to offer prayers.

Five panchayati members have been killed by suspected militants in the last two years. The panchayati polls were held after three decades in Kashmir.
