Join the run to eradicate tobacco

In a bid to support anti-tobacco movement, Diamond Fitness, one of the prominent fitness centres in the city, has organised a marathon on October 2 at 6.00 am. The marathon will be flagged off from Kendriya Vidyalaya to Gokul Nagar, Rajakilpakkam covering around 6 kms. All school and college  students, working professionals and public can take part in the marathon. Prizes will be distributed for the top 10 winners and participants will receive certificates.

 According to the World Health Organisation, usage of tobacco kills nearly six million people a year of whom about 600,000 are affected due to passive smoking. In India around 10 lakh deaths occur every year. According to the WHO 2012 global report on mortality, seven per cent of the deaths of people aged 30 and above are due to tobacco.
