John Kerry calls Pakistan's PM Nawaz Sharif, discusses bilateral ties
Washington: US Secretary of State John Kerry called Pakistan's new Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss with him America's continued support for a stable, secure and prosperous Pakistan and the region, a spokesperson said on Sunday. "Secretary Kerry called Prime Minister Sharif yesterday to congratulate him on his party's success and his election as prime minister," State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki, told reporters at her daily news conference.

"The Secretary noted that he looks forward to working with the Prime Minister and his government as we continue our cooperation and support for a more stable, secure and prosperous future for Pakistan and the region," she said.

Kerry and Sharif discussed how they share a strong commitment to further consolidate and strengthen relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual trust and respect, Psaki said.
