TIRUCHY: Directly taking on the DMK for its attempts to project former minister KN Nehru as a victim of political vendetta, Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Sunday asserted that the guilty were being punished as promised by her during the Assembly election campaign. The Chief Minister also listed out the various welfare schemes implemented by her government during the last five months and urged people to vote for the AIADMK in the local body elections to ensure prompt delivery of schemes. The civic elections would be another turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, she said and hoped that the voters would pave the way for it. “The DMK candidate is unfit to be called by the name Nehru. I need not tell you about the irregularities by K N Nehru, since you have been affected by his activities. During the Assembly election campaign, I promised to bring to book all those involved in land grabbing activities here and I am fulfilling it,” she thundered as the huge crowd responded with applause and shouts of ‘long live Amma’.Addressing meetings here while campaigning for her candidate M Paranjothi in the by-election, she said: “When Nehru was a minister in the minority DMK government, he did not do anything good. He only grabbed lands in thousands of places in the names of his benamis and was arrested following land grab complaints by DMK sympathisers,” she said.
