Jawan kills himself after shooting colleagues

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A CRPF jawan hailing from Maranalloor near Malayinkeezhu here killed himself after shooting two of his colleagues at Silpara camp in West Midnapore.  Thulasidharan, 41, son of Raghavan and Thankamma , Abhijith Nivas, Moolekonam, Maranalloor, belonged to 164 Battalion of the CRPF.The incident occurred  at 8.15  p.m. on Tuesday. His family was informed about the incident at  midnight. His body has been airlifted from Midnapur to Chennai  en route to Thiruvanathapuram.Thulasidharan is survived by wife Shylaja and children, Abhijith and Athulya. Thulasidharan used to talk to his family  over the phone everyday. His last call came at 8 p.m. on Tuesday just 15 minutes before the tragedy. But he had not shown any symptoms of stress, family sources said.. Thulasidharan who had entered service 22 years back had applied for retirement one year ago. He had some frustration over the reluctance of the authorities in granting him voluntary retirement. It was during September, last year that Thulasidharan came home for the last time.
