JAJPUR: The glitter of gold is hard to resist. Saraswati Chand, a havildar with Orissa Police, only knows it better. After a haul of six medals, including two golds, in 2009, she is again part of this year’s Indian contingent to the World Police and Fire Games. Organised in New York, the biennial event began on Friday.Chand is aware of the expectations back home following her winning performance at the 13th World Police and Fire Games in Canada. “Since I am participating in the event for the second time, I have set bigger targets for myself and have been training hard with an eye on more medals. I hope to make my State and country proud with my performance,” said Chand, currently posted in Jajpur.Chand’s former boss is excited about her feat. DIG of police (Central Range) D S Kuttey was the Jajpur SP when Chand went for her first global event in Canada. “Saraswati made Orissa police proud with her achievements last time and we had then promoted her to the rank of a havildar. I hope she would win more medals this year,” said Kuttey.Chand has received all help from her department. “She was sent for training around the world round the year. Just before leaving for New York, she was sent to Delhi for further training,” said Jajpur SP Deepak  Kumar.
