MANGALORE: A Bantwal Cooperative Society manager, who was found guilty of noncompliance, was sentenced to three-month imprisonment in two separate cases by Dakshina Kannada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.In May 2010, the Forum declared Bhagyalaxmi Mahila Vividoddesha Sahakari Sangha Niyamitha manager Purshottam guilty of deficiency of service. The Forum had directed him to pay `4,972 at 13 per cent interest from the date of deposit (June 2002) to date of payment and `4,000 as compensation to Akshata and Vikshita, both minors represented by their father Shankar Gowda.When Purshottam refused to comply with the Forum’s directions, Shankar filed a complaint before the Forum in July 2010. The fine amount of `2,000 recovered from him in each case should be paid as compensation to the complainants.
