HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday cleared the proposal for sanctioning Indiramma Houses to all the project displaced families (PDF) who lose their properties due to the upcoming irrigation projects. The houses would be provided in addition to the benefits envisaged under the resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) policy.As per the state R&R policy, all the project displaced families are paid compensation for the structure notified in the project affected zone.In addition, families belonging to below poverty line category are also paid Rs 53,000 towards house construction grant in addition to the structure compensation.About 1.3 lakh families would be displaced due to construction of the 35 major and medium irrigation projects in 17 districts of the state.During a review on the progress of irrigation projects under Jalayagnam scheme here, the chief minister instructed the officials to take up measures to realise the benefits envisaged during 2011-12.The irrigation department officials were learnt to have requested the state government to release at least Rs 1,000 crore per month to complete the irrigation projects as per schedule.They pointed out that the department is yet to clear arrears amounting to about Rs 1,500 crore to the contractors and also its failure to complete 11 prioritised projects by this kharif due to lack of funds.
