'Impetus To India-France Ties': Modi Responds In French After Macron's Republic Day Tweet
French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday watched India's 75th Republic Day celebrations at the majestic Kartavya Path

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked French President Emmanuel Macron, who was the chief guest at the at 75th Republic Day celebrations, for joining the grand event at the majestic Kartavya Path on Friday.

“Thank you to the President Emmanuel Macron for joining our Republic Day celebrations. Your presence will add great impetus to Indo-French relations. Your presence will add great impetus to Indo-French relations,” Prime Minister Modi wrote in French while responding to the selfie uploaded by the French President on X (formerly Twitter).

In an earlier tweet, Modi said, “Grateful for the French participation in our Republic Day celebrations. The military band, marching contingent, jets and Multirole Aircraft Tanker contributed to the parade being a memorable one.”

The prime minister’s tweet was in response to Macron’s selfie with PM Modi during a tour of Jaipur with the iconic Hawa Mahal in the background.

Macron posted the photograph captioning, “My dear friend Narendra Modi, Indian people, My warmest wishes on your Republic Day. Happy and proud to be with you.”

In an another post on X, Macron wrote, “A great honor for France. Thank you, India.”

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday watched India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations at the majestic Kartavya Path, joining a select group of global leaders to have graced the nation’s biggest ceremonial event in the last seven decades.

As the chief guest at the ceremony, Macron witnessed the grand military parade and the cultural performances along with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Union Cabinet, foreign diplomats and a host of other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu hosted a banquet in honour of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital.

President Murmu expressed satisfaction that both sides have outlined an ambitious vision of our partnership for India’s Amrit Kaal and added that this visit has strengthened our resolve to realise this vision.

Macron began his two-day trip to India with a visit to Jaipur. The French president was the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations at the Kartavya Path on Friday.
