Making fresh allegations against his mother Indrani Mukherjea, Mikhail Bora during questioning by Mumbai Police asserted that he was his mother's next target. Indrani has been accused of murdering her daughter, and Mikhail's sister, Sheena Bora.
Mikhail claimed that Indrani spiked his drinks on the same day when Sheena was murdered. He alleged that Indrani called him at her place and mixed some sedatives in his drink. The police though are unsure of his claims and will verify the same.
Meanwhile, police sources say that the role of the former Raigad SP is under scrutiny as no case or FIR was registered after Sheena's body was found in May, 2012.
Mumbai Police has found human skeletal remains from Raigad where Sheena's body was allegedly found. The remains will be sent for DNA testing soon.
"We have recovered the skeletal remains of the deceased Sheena Bora. We interrogated the third accused. and he has confessed to his complicity in the crime. Further investigation is going on and our teams have gone to other parts of the country for investigation, we have got the remand of the 3rd accused till the 31st and further investigation is on. We recovered the skeletal remains and we shall be dispatching for the DNA test," Mumbai Police chief Rakesh Maria said.
Police say Indrani's second husband Sanjeev Khanna has confessed and that Sheena's passport has been recovered from Dehradun. "We have also recovered Sheela Bora's passport from Dehradun. This would negate the theory that Sheela Bora went to the US," Maria said.
Sources say Sanjeev's finances could be investigated as he is said to have gained financially after the murder. Meanwhile, sources in the police said that Indrani was not cooperating in the investigation. Indrani, her driver Shyam Rai and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna were questioned separately by the police.
Senior journalist Vir Sanghvi, who is the former CEO of INX Media, owned by Indrani Mukherjea, had on Friday made some startling claims that make the Sheena Bora murder case murkier. According to the senior journalist, Indrani had once told a group of people that her step father had molested her, following which she had left her house.
This came even as former Star TV CEO and Indrani's husband Peter Mukerjea joined the investigation by giving a written statement at Khar police station in Mumbai. He was questioned briefly by the police.
