The Hyderabad police has come up with a new initiative to help women and children, who have been victims of violence.
Bharosa- a one stop centre - provides a comprehensive assistance through police, medical, legal and prosecution services - along with psycho-therapeutic counseling and rehabilitation.
With a staff strength of 36, Bharosa is being run by an NGO along with the supervision of the city police.
Speaking to CNN-News18, Swati Lakra, Additional Commissioner (Crimes), Hyderabad police said that this initiative will help women in distress.
"What we have seen in for various reasons the victim has to go to hospital and run around. Even if she goes to hospital, she may have to wait for long hours just to get examination done. Its the same in the court and everybody knowing she's a rape victim. Seeing all this we thought we should help the victim and she shouldn't feel revictimized", she said.
The institution of Bharosa is being established as a non-profit society (as per a government order) for protection of women and children through a public-private partnership, utilising the best available expertise in the city to render the best possible solution in the least possible time to each issue confronting the victims.
