The year 2009 has been an average year with only a handful of films achieving super hits like Paa and 3 Idiots, the focus has shifted to 2010. As always the budgets get bigger but the names top-lining them are pretty much the same. We look at the highs and lows of some 2010's most awaited films.
Kites: Hrithik Roshan has been on a rather long break. His mega hyped salsa romance Kites has been postponed several times due to various reasons. But is now slated for a mid-2010 release.
High: Fans are dying to check out Hrithik-Barbara's smoldering hot chemistry that almost threatened to destroy Roshan's marriage. Apart from all the pre-release hype about the sensuous scenes, it's also wonder boy Roshan's first full-blown dance musical.
Low: One wonders if the Roshans have a concrete plot on their hands and we hope fans aren't served with another Blue in the name of style and gloss.
Rajneeti: It's got a stellar cast comprising some of the most powerful actors. To top it all it is reportedly based on the first family of Indian politics.
High: Ranbir-Kat, Bollywood's most Ghazab pair are cast in perhaps their most dramatic roles ever. With their ever-increasing fan following it would be interesting to see some real acting.
Low: Grim and serious subjects are being rejected by audiences. Which is why if Rajneeti gets too heavy on the senses no one might be too interested.
Anjaana Anjaani: Ranbir Kapoor again! This time with PriyankaChopra. The supposed Shallow Hal remake is set to open in mid 2010.
High: Ranbir Kapoor in a candy floss romance can never go wrong. Add to that a sizzling Priyanka Chopra and the two definitely make for a delightful watch. Director Siddharth Anand too has a natural flair for this genre.
Low: Romantic comedies lifted from Hollywood could go either ways.
Guzarish: Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Need we say more?
High: The names associated with Guzarish are enough to make you
wanna book your tickets right away. Bhansali is sure to challenge this gorgeous Dhoom 2 pair with never before seen roles.
Low: When Bhansali experiments it can either reach the dizzying heights of Black or go cold blue like Saawariya.
Action Replay: Vipul Shah would be wondering if London Dreams actually missed his lucky mascot. A strong storyteller, he must be hoping his favourite actor gives him a bigger hit this time around.
High: Akki-Ash make a gorgeous pair. Except for a brief romance in Khakee, these two star performers have surprisingly not done any other film. For fans it would be a fresh watch.
Low: Shah is good at tackling new themes but messes it up each time with too much melodrama. Action Replay is set in the retro 70s. But here's wishing the emotions are not that dated.
Ravana: Abhi-Ash look all set to recreate the Guru experience with Mani Ratnam's next.
High: Ratnam has a knack of bringing out the best in both these actors.
Low: The film has not had a very smooth shooting schedule and is a new take on an age old epic. It would be hard to doll this one up with the frothy ingredients our multiplex viewers like.
Housefull: Sajid Khan promises a lot more fun in his second directorial venture that stars Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Deepika Padukone.
High: Everyone loves a good-looking multistarrer that entertains.
Low: Akshay and Sajid's brand of humour is getting a tad repetitive.
