Madhya Pradesh: Himanshu Sabharwal, son of late professor H S Sabharwal is taking on the BJP in the upcoming Parliamentary bypolls in Madhya Pradesh.
Professor Sabharwal was allegedly beaten to death by activists of BJP's student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
Himanshu has now started campaigning for Congress candidate Rajshree Singh in Vidisha.
The seat became vacant after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan got elected to the state Assembly.
Himanshu has accused the BJP of covering up his father's murder. He has already met Congress leaders and is expected to join the party soon.
"Himanshu Sabharwal is campaigning for Congress today", state party spokesman Manak Agrawal said.
"He had expressed a desire to 'reveal the truth' about the law and order situation in the state, following which the party chalked out his programme of electioneering for party candidate Rajshri Singh," Agrawal added.
Himanshu had earlier told reporters that in his quest for justice for his father, he would 'expose' those behind the murder and attempts to shelter the accused.
The young professional also questioned BJP's achievements and accused it of failing to meet the expectations of the people who had voted it to power.
"I will be happy to campaign against BJP in Shivraj Singh Chouhan's former Lok Sabha constituency," Himanshu, who had demanded registration of criminal case against the Chief Minister for describing his father's death as an accident, had said.
