New Delhi: We all know that today's video Google doodle marks the 93rd birth anniversary of American Graphic designer Saul bass, who is well known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters, and corporate logos, but did you know that how the doodle - to pay a tribute to the designer - was created? Matthew Cruickshank, the doodler behind this creative video doodle shares how he conceptualised and executed the idea.

Cruickshank said that he has always been interested in the work of Saul Bass and was delighted to get the opportunity to celebrate his birthday on the Google homepage. From the outset he wanted to celebrate a number of his film credits in succinct succession, as well as a nod in the direction of his poster work.

"Film rights can be problematic so I wasn't completely sure of the order of cutting, but as it turned out every studio was a pleasure to work with. Corresponding with Jennifer Bass was inspirational and led to hearing that Saul Bass was a Dave Brubeck fan. Although I hadn't synched animation to music we found a Brubeck track that managed to hit the right notes. Again, the Brubeck estate were superb to work with," he said.

He drew everything in Adobe Illustrator before he animated in After Effects. The 1 minute 20 second doodle showcases some of the best examples of Saul Bass' work.

Born on May 8, 1920, Saul Bass, during his career, worked with popular filmmakers including Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Otto Preminger, Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick.

Bass, who created some of the most compelling images of postwar visual culture, often in collaboration with his wife Elaine, permanently transformed the worlds of corporate identity and graphic design.

He is also widely known for his design work in film, particularly his iconic title sequences, and for his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger and Martin Scorsese.

Bass died April 25, 1996. He was 75.
