He pointed out Afghan crisis tough to resolve unless militancy countered.
New Delhi: US special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke has called western Pakistan the ‘heart of the threat’ to the US, India and many other countries.
He has also added that the Afghan crisis cannot be resolved without addressing the problem of militancy in the restive tribal region.
The starting point for the Barack Obama administration's approach to the region has to be to treat it as an integrated whole, a single theatre of war, with very different rules on each side of the border.
He pointed out that these militants are based in western tribal areas ‘although it also extends down into Baluchistan.’
