Governor ESL Narasimhan has said that he will act only on the recommendations to be made by the chief minister and the cabinet on ministers' resignations or any other issue that is related to government.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines Iftar organised at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday, he made it clear he had not received any communication from the government on road and buildings minister Dharmana Prasada Rao's resignation and dismissed reports of ministers' resignation letters streaming into the Raj Bhavan as mere media speculation. He said he had no idea about any prakshalana or samprokshana in the cabinet.
The governor's Iftar attained political significance with several top leaders of state Congress, having differences with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, attending it. Interestingly, Kiran loyalists were not seen on the occasion.
Assembly speaker N Manohar, Council chairman A Chakrapani, deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers Botcha Satyanarayana, K Jana Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Ahmadulla, Gall Arunakumari and Ganta Srinivas Rao, PCC coordination committee member Shabbir Ali, and MPs V Hanumanth Rao and K Chiranjeevi attended the Iftar.
City police commissioner Anurag Sharma, APSRTC managing director AK Khan, IAS officers Ajay Mishra and M Samuel, and several Muslim leaders also partook in the party.
Earlier, the governor participated in special prayers and conveyed his best wishes to Muslim community.
