Noida: The Noida police on Saturday claimed to have arrested the gang leader behind the spate of crimes on April 8 evening when criminals shot dead a former airhostess, attempted to kill a retired army officer and robbed three people.
Noida Senior Superintendent of Police A S Ganesh told newspersons Mukesh alias Mukhia Yadav, the leader of the gang, was nabbed after they put his telephone under surveillance.
Ganesh said the police had identified the gang involved in the crimes and seized the motorcycle used from the house of a criminal, Lachhi, at Sarfabad locality on April 9. Lachchi disclosed Mukesh's mobile number during interrogation, which helped the Sector-39 police arrest him.
The police team nabbed Mukhia from Sadar Pur locality Friday midnight when he was planning to commit a crime.
Both the arrested criminals have confessed their role in the crime and revealed the names of others involved - Ashok Yadav and Annu Balmiki.
After their arrest, the police recovered a mobile robbed from Sheeba Thomas, a former air hostess of Virgin Atlantic who was killed, and Rs.900 cash robbed from three people in Sector-61.
The police recovered a .32 calibre revolver and a country made pistol of .315 bore from Mukesh.
