BANGALORE: The nationwide bandh on Thursday cheered fruit vendors, who were out in droves in many areas in the city.As food joints remained closed all through the day, it was the day for these vendors, who seemed to have had stocked up at the right time. In Indiranagar, Cambridge Layout, Sampangiramnagar, Kalasipalyam Market, among other areas, witnessed an outbreak of fruit carts.“I have never seen so many fruit vendors in this area before. I stocked up on fruits after a long time,” said Sharan, a resident of Cambridge Layout. At Sampangiramnagar market, it was the day of exotic fruits.“When I entered the market, I found litchies, berries, strawberries and black grapes,” said Dheeraj, a resident of S R Nagar. Meanwhile, K R Market offered varities of fruits for buyers after 12 noon.Ashwath, a vendor in Indiranagar said, “Customers seem relaxed and were not seen in a hurry while shopping. It is only in times like these, we get noticed and people stop to select fruits.”
