PANAKKAD: Amidst speculations that the IUML leadership and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would reach a consensus regarding the IUML demand for the fifth ministerial berth, the CM said that the UDF meeting on June 22 will discuss all the issues including the parliamentary minister and deputy speaker posts. He was talking to mediapersons at the residence of Muslim League state president Hyderali Shihab Thangal in Panakkad after a friendly visit on Friday.Brushing aside questions on the details of the discussion, the CM said that he had discussed the activities of the government with Thangal. “He has put forward certain suggestions on the education as well as health sectors. In short, we have discussed everything, but I don’t want to reveal the details,” said the Chief Minister.According to him, there were no confusions in the UDF and IUML in giving strong support to the working of the government.Later addressing the media separately, Thangal and P K Kunhalikutty added that the Chief Minister has made only a friendly visit and the UDF meeting on June 22 would discuss other matters. Regarding the questions on the self-financing college issue, Kunhalikutty said that the government did not get enough time to solve the ambiguities created by the last government. However, a decision will be taken soon to solve the impasse, he said.Explaining Muslim League’s stance on sanctioning NOC to CBSE schools, he said that the government would give NOC to schools that meet the criteria only. He informed that Thangal had submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister to start a Medical College in Malappuram and Malayalam University at Thunchan Parambu. “We have also discussed other developmental issues of the district,” he said.
