Jr NTR Takes Dig at Konda Surekha for Comments on Samantha's Divorce: 'Dragging Personal Lives...'
Jr NTR slams Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for dragging Samantha and Naga Chaitanya's divorce into politics, calling it a 'new low.'

Jr NTR, riding high on the success of Devara at the box office, has slammed Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her controversial remarks against Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce. Surekha recently made sensational claims, linking their separation to political dealings involving BRS leader KT Rama Rao and Samantha, sparking outrage across the Telugu film industry.

Expressing his displeasure, Jr NTR took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Konda Surekha garu, dragging personal lives into politics is a new low. Public figures, especially those in responsible positions like you, must maintain dignity and respect for privacy. It’s disheartening to see baseless statements thrown around carelessly, especially about the film industry. We will not sit quietly while others make baseless allegations against us. We should rise above this and maintain respect for each other’s boundaries. Let’s ensure our society does not normalise such reckless behaviour in democratic India.” He signed off with the hashtag “#FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate.”

Jr NTR wasn’t the only one speaking up. Actor Nani also criticised Surekha’s remarks. In a strongly worded statement, he said, “Disgusting to see politicians thinking they can get away with talking any kind of nonsense. When your words can be so irresponsible, it’s stupid of us to expect that you will have any responsibility for your people.” Nani added that such behavior tarnishes society’s fabric and stated, “It’s not just about actors or cinema. This is not about any political party. It is not okay for someone in such a respectable position to talk such utter baseless rubbish in front of the media and think that it is okay.”

Surekha had earlier claimed that Samantha refused a political favour which led to her divorce. “KTR asked to send Samantha in return for not demolishing the N-convention centre. Nagarjuna forced Samantha to go to KTR, but she said no. That led to divorce,” Surekha was quoted as saying by Deccan Herald.

Speaking to media, Surekha also claimed, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them. He used to make them drug addicts and then do this. Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family, everybody is aware that such a thing happened.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu responded via social media, urging politicians to be responsible and respect privacy. “Konda Surekha Garu, I am proud of what this journey turned me into—please don’t trivialise it. I hope you realise that your words carry significant weight as a minister. I implore you to be responsible and respectful of individuals’ privacy.” Naga Chaitanya echoed Samantha’s sentiment, calling the allegations “false, ridiculous and unacceptable.”
