CHENNAI: A model hunt for the ‘Face of Kiah’s Elite’ culminated on Saturday evening at the Ispahani Centre, Nungambakkam with 12 of the shortlisted contestants in the final. Sashaying down the ramp in karachi suits, chiffon tunics with abstract prints and gorgeous anarkalis embellished with kundan work, zardosi and parsi embroidery, these aspiring models certainly got a taste of the spotlight. Renowned Bharathnatiyam dancer, Srekala Bharath and actor-cum-anchor Vijay Aadhiraj judged the show.The top three contestants were posed with a simple question: Describe the designs at Kiah’s in a single word. Poorthi’s unexpected response, “The store reminds me of my Wardrobe,” which she elaborated on by describing the warmth of the staff and their honest opinions while browsing the racks seemed to impress the judges most, winning her the title, not to mention a whole new wardobe as well! Setting a fashion trend perhaps in the absence of the conventional tiara were wreaths of leaves, embedded with red roses in the front to crown the First runner up, Shreya Gupta and Second runner up, Aparna.
