PARADIP: The Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has refuted the allegations made by Dhirendranath Palai, working president of United Action Committee (UAC), that documents were forged to benefit a particular forest committee for compensation towards prawn gheries at the proposed Posco project site here.IDCO clarified that payment was made for two prawn gheries, one undertaken by Dadhibaman group and the other by Badghaipai group. The compensation was paid after a joint inquiry and proper demarcation by a team of IDCO officials headed by Land Officer S K Mohapatra, three land inspectors of IDCO, DGM and Head of Posco (Kujang Works) SN Singh, five Posco officials along with revenue inspectors of Kujang tehsil in the presence of the Paradip ADM and the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Jagatsinghpur, the IDCO said. The villagers were also present at the time of demarcation of the prawn gheries, it added. While Dadhibaman prawn gheries were measured at over 30 acres, Badghaipai gheries were over 25 acres, IDCO said adding that the officials of the district administration were present during the measurement of the gheries and also during payment of compensation. Since IDCO and Posco authorities were not considering other defunct prawn gheries of Noliasahi and Nuagaon for payment as the livelihood of the villagers is not affected, such false allegations are being made to confuse the locals, IDCO added.
