New Delhi: Celebrity disc jockey Aqeel, who was recently arrested in Dubai in a case of drug possession and later released, claimed on Saturday that the contraband was "planted" in his wallet and he was paying a price for his success.
"I was supposed to be there (in Dubai) at Triology, a very cool night club. When I was walking out of the customs they pulled me over to the side and said they just wanted to check me and frisked me and they find something in my wallet which somebody had planted," Aqeel told CNN-IBN.
Aqeel said that he had no idea how the contraband landed up in his wallet.
"But I definitely want to find out how this happens and I guess there is a price you pay for success...," he said.
Aqeel was discharged on June 14 about two weeks after he was allegedly caught with ecstasy tablets in his bag at the international airport in Dubai.
The local magistrate discharged Aqeel after his lawyer argued that the contraband recovered from his bag was "planted".
Aqeel was held at the airport on June three with 0.06 gram of ecstasy, a banned drug, in his bag and was handed over to the police. He was visiting Dubai to take part in a radio programme.
However, tests conducted by the police had found no traces of ecstasy in his blood and urine samples.
