A history-sheeter, active in smuggling of drugs and fake currency across Indo-Pak border, was arrested from Barmer, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Nabia alias Nawab (58) last night from his house in Gagaria village of Barmer district and recovered three mobile handsets and four SIM cards from his possession.

"We had caught two persons in Jodhpur with one kg Opium and fake currency with face value of Rs 98,000 on Sunday. One of them, Kishanram Bishnoi, told police that he had received the currency from Nabia," DCP (West) Hinglaj Dan said.

According to preliminary investigation, Nabia had brought the currency from across the border and had been active in smuggling of drug, explosives and fake currency. He had supplied fake currency to Bishnoi earlier as well, police said, adding, "Nabia has links in Pakistan as well."
