BHUBANESWAR: In what could be a relief for the health authorities, dengue incidence has reported a drop in the State. On Sunday, just 14 positive cases were reported, all from SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. As many as 151 samples were sent to the SCB for testing on the day. Of the 14, Angul reported eight positive cases. On Saturday too, just seven positive cases had been reported. However, health analysts warn against any complacency saying this is the breeding season for the vectors which is why transmission could witness a spurt any time soon. As on date, 859 persons have been diagnosed with dengue positive with the worst affected district, Angul, accounting for 394 cases followed by Jajpur with 98, Dhenkanal with 92 and Cuttack with 87 cases. So far, the killer fever has claimed 23 lives.
