DMDK members evicted

CHENNAI: DMDK members in the State Assembly were evicted en masse on Monday when they were on their feet insisting on the expunction of an anecdote narrated by AIADMK member C Vijayabaskar, which they claimed indirectly hit their leader Vijayakant. Leader of Opposition Vijayakant and Deputy Leader of Opposition Panruti S Ramachandran were not present when the DMDK members were evicted.Participating in the discussion on the demands for grants for the Municipal Administration Department, Vijayabaskar had quoted a story. The DMDK members objected and  VC Chandrakumar, DMDK Whip in the Assembly, said the story should be expunged. To this, Speaker D Jayakumar said the remarks need not be expunged as Vijayabaskar did not name any particular political party or leader and it was just an anecdote. As DMDK members refused to resume their seats,  the Speaker called in the Marshalls to evict the DMDK members.
