THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM state secretariat has issued a strong warning to the UDF Government for engaging in mass transfers of police officers and other government officials flouting service norms. In a hard-hitting statement issued here, the CPM said that the transfers were nothing but an attempt to violate the rule of law. Through the mass transfers of police officers probing several cases against the present ministers, the UDF Government has made it clear its intention that all the corruption charges against the UDF leaders will now be sabotaged. The police officers from the Vigilance, Crime Branch and Intelligence wings have been ‘carefully chosen’ before issuing them the transfer orders. The entire team probing the ice cream parlour sex scandal has been dismantled and the probe team members have been posted in various corners of the state. All these have been made to save P K Kunhalikutty, Adoor Prakash and M K Muneer who are facing various charges. Even when there is a stipulation that police officers who have not completed five years of service in a place, should not be transferred and those who have only a few months to retire also should not be transferred, the UDF Government has flouted these norms.Similar transfers have been initiated in departments such as PWD, Fisheries, Industries, Health and Planning. Most of the officials have been transferred flouting norms, the CPM secretariat said.“The UDF Government in the past had undertaken a similar tactics and this had led to a massive corruption in transfers. The present Oommen Chandy government is also going on the same lines, for which they will have to give a heavy price,” the statement issued after the CPM secretariat meeting said. If the UDF government is misusing the government machinery like this for settling political scores, the CPM state secretariat threatened to launch intense agitation against the government.
