Court slaps Rs 1 lakh fine on SI for abusing

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Additional Sub Court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a police officer in a compensation case filed by an advocate. Sub-Judge E C Harigovindan imposed the fine on Sandeep,  who was Palluruthy Traffic SI, on a petition filed by advocate K L Joseph.  Joseph, a senior citizen, alleged that he was abused by the  police officer when was waiting to cross the road at Thevara Junction.The incident occurred on February 18, 2010, at Thevara Junction. The petitioner was waiting to cross the road. The allegation was that the SI who came in a jeep stopped it on road and asked Joseph, who was in the middle of the zebra line, to move back from there. When he replied that he was on the zebra line, the SI shouted at him.
