HYDERABAD: If you have traffic challans pending for some time, expect the knock of a traffic cop at your home soon. With the rising number of unpaid traffic challans, the city traffic police has decided to take direct action against the offenders. "We have decided to pursue the issue of payment of all pending e-challans very seriously. A list of violators, against whom 10 or more pending challans are there, has been prepared under each police station limits. One team comprising a constable and a Home Guard is being formed in each Traffic Division and will be given a motorcycle and a cell phone. This team will go to the residences of the rule violators," Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) CV Anand said.Out of 2.91 lakh e-challans issued till May 2011, 82,277 challans have not been paid. Traffic officials said that the situation was similar in the previous two years. In 2010, nearly 7 lakh out of the 10.85 lakh e-challans issued were not paid. In 2009, out of 6.03 lakh e-challans issued, 3.26 lakh were not paid. Among four-wheeler owners, Md. Ahmed Hussain (AP 13 E 8333) is the top violator this year with 44 cases. In three-wheeler category, Md Shakeel Pasha has 98 challans against his registered vehicle (AP 28 X 1053).
