PUDUCHERRY: Union Minister V Narayanasamy and Rajya Sabha member P Kannan said Congress party would not remain a silent spectator to the anti-people activities and would come to the street and organise agitations against the government of N Rangasamy, who is ruling autocratically. The veteran senior Congress leaders kept aside their differences and came together to address a crowded media conference along with Opposition leader V Vait-hilingam, MLA K Lakshminarayanan, PCC chief A V Subramanian and former minister Pethaperumal here on Sunday. While the Union Minister said Congress would not rest till the government is ousted from power, RS member Kannan pointed out to the deteriorating law and order situation and lashed out at the NR government. He demanded that the cabinet be dismissed after keeping the assembly under suspended animation.Narayanasamy demanded a white paper on why the government had failed to spend `1,088 crore, which it had surrendered. He said that the Centre had allotted `4,830 crore, of which only `3,742 crore had been spent both under plan and non-plan activities for 2011-2012.He also said the NR government should explain to the people why it could not present a full budget when other states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala had already presented their budgets. The Union Minister said the government should also explain why the vote on account had been passed when the entire opposition had been evicted from the House.Blaming the government for delaying the local body elections, Narayanasamy said that funds for various schemes under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission would not be available if the local bodies were not in place. The leaders of the party may have varying views on issues but, he said, “We’ll sort it out internally and will put an end to Chief Minister Rangasamy’s government.”Slamming the government for the deteriorating law and order situation, Narayansamy said that the police had submitted a list of 22 rowdies, who needed to be booked under the Goonda’s Act. But the CM had kept the file under wraps. He alleged that more than 50 per cent of the rowdies in the list were from Rangasamy’s constituency. He also said a request for an enquiry into the distribution of biased cyclone Thane relief would be  made to the Union Home Ministry.Meanwhile, Vaithilingam alleged that Rangasamy had appointed people from his constituency to the Government Dental College and the Pondicherry Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (Ponlait) through the backdoor. He said he had obtained the information through RTI.He warned that if the government fails to provide employment to the 4,000 retrenched people as assured in the assembly, the Congress would organise an agitation against NR.
