PUDUCHERRY: Deputy director general (DDG) of NCC directorate (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar) Commodore Sartaj Imam slammed ‘some’ people polluting the NCC, by not discharging their basic duties. He was addressing the permanent instructors (PIs), associate NCC officers (ANOs) and civilian staff at the Tagore Arts College auditorium, after inspecting the NCC camp in progress here.Without mentioning their positions or any other detail about the persons against whom his ire was directed, the DDG later amended saying that not all, but ‘one or probably two’ were involved in such activities and referred to the transfer of a few to nearby places. The DDG commended the PIs for doing an excellent job imparting training to the cadets. The DDG asked the associate NCC officers to get in touch with him directly if they had any problems or suggestions to make. Imam added that he valued the suggestions of the ANOs, as they provided the vital link between the directorate and the NCC cadets of the various educational institutions. Earlier, Imam visited the group headquarters, the camp and training areas. He discussed with the officers the various activities of the cadets and apart from interacting with a few young cadets also watched the girl cadets of the camp in action at the firing range.
