CUTTACK: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday inaugurated the Traffic Police Station at Madhupatna Square here. The two-storey building houses the police station as well as a trauma care centre to aid accident victims on the roads and National Highways passing through Cuttack city. The police station apart from carrying out normal policing jobs would also actively pursue training and awareness programmes for all stakeholders. Skill development of traffic personnel, drivers and also sensitisation of schoolchildren would be conducted regularly, for the purpose of which, a modern conference room-cum-hall has been integrated to the police station building. The trauma care centre has been equipped with an ambulance along with first aid and life saving equipment. Any accident victim can be taken to the centre for immediate assistance through first aid before being sent to the hospital. Trained personnel would be posted round the clock to man the centre. The police station building has been constructed at a cost of around ` 50 lakh. Among others, DGP Manmohan Praharaj, Commissioner BK Sharma, DCP S Pravin Kumar and Cuttack MLA Debasish Samantray were present.
