HYDERABAD: The state government is taking all steps for smooth and peaceful conduct of the Bonalu festival in the twin cities and provide all facilities to devotees, minister for Major Industries and Hyderabad district in-charge J Geeta Reddy said.The Bonalu in Secunderabad to be held on July 17 and in Hyderabad including Old City on July 24. As Bonalu is a very important festival of Telangana, the minister said she along with the local minister will take up the issue with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, to declare it as a state festival. During a review meeting of arrangements for Bonalu, Geeta Reddy said all roads leading to Mahakali temples will be decked up by improving sanitation, re-carpeting damaged roads, filling potholes, providing drinking water and uninterrupted power supply. If the temple committees have any issues relating to civic amenities, they can get them redressed with the zonal commissioner concerned, she said. City police commissioner AK Khan said adequate police force would be provided at the three important Mahakali temples at Golconda, Secunderabad and Lal Darwaza in the Old City. Extra vigil will be kept at all Mahakali temples by having additional women cops.
