HYDERABAD: The CBI on Saturday conducted searches on the residence of senior IAS officer Y Sri Lakshmi at SR Nagar in connection with the illegal mining case involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. The IAS officer was also questioned for her alleged role in the mining scam.According to sources, the searches started at around 6 a.m on Saturday morning led by CBI’s superintendent of police H Venkatesh.Sri Lakshmi was the secretary of the industries department during 2005-2009 and the CBI found certain irregularities in some of the leases given to the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by Gali Janardhan Reddy during the said period. After arresting Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law, Srinivas Reddy, the CBI officials are now probing the role of government officials into the leases granted to the OMC and the irregularities that took place in granting the same. The searches at Sri Lakshmi’s residence at S R Nagar went on till afternoon.
