New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a case against socialite Bina Ramani on charges of producing forged documents to acquire a licence to run a restaurant at the Tamarind Court in south Delhi, where model Jessica Lall was murdered on April 19, 1999.

A senior police official said the case was registered by the Special Investigation Team of the Delhi Police on Friday, which found the alleged wrong doing during its probe of the

initial investigation of the Jessica Lall murder.

He said the premises of Tamarind Court were not meant for commercial purposes and the documents produced to show that Ramani had the owners consent were forged.

A case of cheating, forgery and using forged documents under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of the IPC has been lodged at the Mehrauli Police Station by the SIT.

She has also been booked for producing a forged ration card to acquire the license to run the restaurant.

The SIT had earlier questioned Ramani, her fashion designer daughter Malini and husband George Mailhot for in connection with destruction on evidence in the Jessica Lall murder case.

The Delhi High Court had last week asked the SIT to complete the probe into the initial investigation of the case and submit a report within the next two months.
