Chief electoral officer of the state Bhanwarlal has said that that all affidavits filed by the candidates during the 2009 general elections have been posted on the official website of the Election Commission. Objections to the affidavits and any wrong information furnished by candidates can be submitted in the form of complaints to the Election Commission.
The commission, in turn, will look into the complaints and take necessary action.
Addressing a press conference after completing a day-long visit to the city, Bhanwarlal said the Election Commission alone could not take any action.
The CEO said that the Forum for Better Visakha representative EAS Sharma informed the commission that minister for higher education K Parthasaradhi had filed a wrong declaration in the Affidavit.
However, commission could not act against the affidavit unless a person lodged a specific complaint against the affidavit, he clarified.
He reviewed the enrolment of voters, cancellation of voter ID cards and corrections in voter ID cards in the district. Corrections were successfully made in voter ID cards at e-Seva centres in Hyderabad and a similar exercise would be conducted in Visakhapatnam soon.
He said the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) of Teachers and Graduates elections would be conducted in March, 2013. The district should be ready with the revised electoral rolls by then.
The CEO directed the Collector to arrange name plates to booth-level officers. Most of the students were not enrolling themselves in the electoral lists and asked the collector to conduct a special drive and to enroll all people above 18 years of age without delay.
