Thiruvananthapuram: An online campaign by animal rights activist that calls for "boycotting Kerala Tourism" is gaining momentum after an all party meeting in Kerala decided to kill the dogs affected with rabies. There are protests internationally on July 26 against the state government's move.
The animal rights activist alleges that the state government is not following scientific methods, to control the dog population.
Citizens for animal rights, founder, Rishidev said, "There are human solutions to the problem. But they refused to accept any logic from anybody."
On July 26, the animal lovers are protesting internationally against this decision. There will be protest in London, Berlin, in all metros of India also in Ahmadabad, Lucknow.
Meanwhile, the state government maintains that the dog menace is an increasing problem. 1,600 cases of dog bites have been reported in the state in 2014 itself.
Mohammed Hanish said, "Animal birth control is our standard procedure. I'm certain municipalities in the northern and central part, regular cases of dog bites were reported and there has been local sentiment to come up with a decision. We will follow the rules".

The Kerala government said this move will boost tourism in the state.
Tourism Secretary G kamala Vardhana Rao said, "I don't think it's going to affect tourists. I think they will be more happy, providing safety and security. Tourist will have more safer stay here after the decision."
After series of dog bite cases, decision taken in an all party meeting to kill dangerous dogs may effect the tourism industry. Officials said that they are taking the boycott Kerala tourism campaign seriously and all measures will be taken to communicate the real issues to the dog lovers and tourists.
