Body for building sector

To solve the problems faced by the building sector, a Confederation of Construction Organisations was formed on Friday.

The members of the confederation include the major organisations related with the sector. These include Builders Association of India (BII), Kerala Builders Association, Indian Institute of Architects (III), Quarry Owners Association (QOA), Kerala Government Contractors Association and Tipper and Earth Movers Association. “The construction sector stands second in terms of creating jobs. But the government is not providing any welfare plans for the workers in the sector,” the promoters of the confederation said here.

They blamed the government for not promoting the businessmen who had already invested in this sector.  “The authorities are now looking  to attract more investors through events like Emerging Kerala. But they are totally ignoring the existing entrepreneurs in the construction sector,” they said.
